Living/Learning Community (LLC) selection is randomized for students who apply by May 24 (typically the date is May 1, but it is extended this year due to the FAFSA-caused delays). Students will be notified of their application status in early June via email. If you apply for housing after May 24 & request a LLC, you’ll be considered in subsequent rounds of selection.
LLCs are open to first- & second-year undergraduate students who are eligible for on-campus housing, and who are not admitted into the Honors Program (this group lives in the Honors 1st-Year Residential Community; if admitted, it will appear on your Admissions letter or in the portal). Transfer students who will be 1st- or 2nd-year students may also apply. Note that Special Interest Housing options have a different application process.
Step 1 | Pay the Enrollment Deposit to accept your admittance to UConn – Congratulations! Students should receive access to the UConn Housing Application within 5 business days of paying this deposit (watch your email!). |
Step 2 | Submit your UConn Housing Application, and select a LLC. You’ll find the application on the Residential Life MyHousing App. You can only pick one LLC. If waitlisted, you’ll be notified then whether there is space in any other LC. * If interested in The Arts House, select Connecting with the Arts OR Fine Arts on the Housing Application. These LLCs were combined after the Housing Application was live & couldn’t be updated to reflect this change. * If you submitted your Housing Application & didn’t select a LLC, you may still request one. Email LiveLearn@uconn.edu your: 1. Full Name; 2. UConn ID# (7-digits); 3. Whether you’re a First-year or Transfer student; & 4. which LC you want to live in. |
Step 3 | You’ll receive an email starting in early June letting you know if you’ve been accepted or waitlisted for a LLC. * If admitted, you must submit the Learning Community Agreement by the deadline indicated in the email to accept your space. Submitting the Agreement commits you to living in the LC for one year (you won’t be able to participate in Residential Life Room Change processes). You’ll also be pre-enrolled in the LC First Year Experience (FYE)/any other course(s) associated with your LC in the Fall & Spring semesters. You’ll only be able to request to room with another student admitted into the same LLC, or opt for a random roommate. * If waitlisted, you’ll be informed if any other LLC has space available. You can then choose to request a space in one of those LLCs or remain on the waitlist for your first choice (in the meantime, you’ll remain on the list for regular campus housing). Keep watching your email. If a space opens up in your desired LLC, you may be offered a space that you will have to accept if you still want to live there. |
Typically students apply to live in a Learning Community for the academic year (Fall to Spring). However, there may be a limited number of openings in the Spring semester due to students studying abroad, or other reasons.
